Shirakawa-go Tour Bus Reservations: What Groups Need

Explera DMC Japan now books a parking slot before any group coach goes to Shirakawa-go. From 1 December 2026, Shirakawa Village requires an advance reservation for tour buses at its Seseragi Park parking lot. Bookings opened on 1 June 2026, so a coach that arrives without one risks being turned away.

The village says the system covers large buses, medium buses and microbuses that use the bus spaces, and that it aims to manage how many visitors the World Heritage village takes in at one time. Travel Voice reports that slots can be booked up to eight months ahead.

What changes for coach groups?

• A slot for every coach. Each bus needs its own reservation for the date and time it arrives.
• All bus sizes. The rule covers microbuses as well as large and medium coaches.
• Winter Light-Up. On Light-Up event days, no bus is allowed in without a bus parking permit.

How do we plan a Shirakawa-go visit for groups?

• Book the slot first. We fix the parking reservation before we confirm the rest of the day, then build the timings around it.

• Pair it with Takayama. Most groups combine the village with a night in Takayama and Hida.
• Brief the clients. People live in the farmhouses, so we brief groups on quiet behaviour and private property before they arrive.
