International Representation Programme

The Japan DMC representation programme: represent Explera Japan in your market.

The Japan DMC representation programme is for established travel companies abroad. Introduce B2B travel agents and tour operators in your territory and earn 10% of Explera’s net profit on the Japan bookings they make.

What is the Japan DMC representation programme?

Explera appoints established travel companies in overseas source markets as official representatives of its Japan DMC. They introduce B2B travel agents and tour operators in their territory and earn 10% of Explera’s net profit on attributed bookings. Explera handles Japan operations, pricing, contracting and collections.

Last updated: 4 October 2026

The programme is B2B only. Representatives never sell to, or market to, end travellers in Explera’s name.

Commission

How the 10% commission is calculated.

Net profit is the amount Explera receives from the agent minus every direct cost of that booking: hotels, transport, guides, tickets, activities and meals; supplier and government taxes; payment, bank and remittance fees and FX losses; refunds, compensation and chargebacks; and any commission or discount given to the agent.

Worked exampleAmount
Agent pays ExpleraUSD 2,400
Direct costsUSD 2,000
Explera net profitUSD 400
Representative commission (10%)USD 40
  • Attribution. Commission applies only to bookings from agents you register through the portal before their first booking, once Explera has approved and tagged them to you. Untagged, disputed or existing Explera agents earn no commission.
  • When it is payable. After Explera has received 100% payment, the services are completed, and 30 days have passed after the travel end date without a complaint or chargeback.
  • Zero or negative profit means zero commission. There is no minimum, advance or retainer.
  • Clawback and set-off. Commission on a booking later refunded, charged back, unpaid or subject to a claim is reversed, and Explera may set off any amount you owe against commission.
  • Payment. Quarterly, within 30 days after the quarter ends, against your invoice. Amounts under USD 100 carry forward. Bank charges, FX and withholding taxes are borne by the representative.
  • Statements. Explera’s statements are final unless queried within 15 days. No commission accrues on bookings made after termination.

Programme FAQ

Questions companies ask before applying.

Who can become an Explera DMC representative?

A registered travel company with at least two years of B2B trade experience, an agent network in its territory, trade references and the licences its own country requires. The programme is for companies that work with travel agents and tour operators, not with end travellers.

How is the commission calculated?

Representatives earn 10% of Explera’s net profit on each attributed booking: the amount the agent pays minus all direct costs of that booking. If an agent pays USD 2,400 and the direct costs are USD 2,000, the net profit is USD 400 and the commission is USD 40.

When is commission paid?

Quarterly, within 30 days after the quarter ends, against your invoice. A booking qualifies once Explera has received full payment, the services are completed and 30 days have passed after travel without a complaint or chargeback. Amounts under USD 100 carry forward to the next quarter.

Is the appointment exclusive?

No. Every appointment is non-exclusive by default, Explera may appoint more than one representative per country, and Explera continues to work directly with agents in every territory. For an Official Country Representative, exclusivity may be granted in writing after the first year at Explera’s sole discretion.

Does Explera pay for marketing or familiarisation trips?

No. Representatives bear all their own costs, including marketing, events, travel, staff and printing. Familiarisation trips and printed material are not included; they may be offered at Explera’s discretion, at the representative’s cost or on a cost-shared basis.

Can a representative take payments or confirm bookings?

No. Representatives are independent companies. They may not quote, confirm or change services, or collect any money in Explera’s name. Agents pay Explera directly, only to the official accounts listed on the payment page of this website.

Which company signs the representation agreement?

Explera DMC Co., Ltd., the group’s Thailand company in Bangkok, signs every representation agreement, including those for Japan, and the agreement is governed by Thai law. This applies only to the representation agreement; your application data is processed by the same company under Thailand’s PDPA.

What happens after I apply?

You receive an Application ID by email. Our partnerships team checks your documents and trade references, may ask for more documents, and invites shortlisted applicants to a video interview. Each decision is emailed to you, and you can follow the status on the tracking page with your Application ID and email address.
