Explera DMC Japan now books Hilton Takayama Resort, the first Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in Gifu Prefecture. The hotel opened on 14 September 2026 as the rebrand of Hotel Associa Takayama Resort, run by the JR Central group. It has a hot spring with views of the Northern Alps and a free shuttle from JR Takayama Station.
Rooms are coming back in stages. About 90 rooms opened in September 2026, and all 283 rooms are due by spring 2027 as the refurbishment goes on.
What does the hotel offer?
- Onsen. A natural hot spring with indoor and outdoor baths that look out to the Northern Alps.
- Restaurants. Several restaurants and a bar, including Japanese cooking and teppanyaki.
- Executive lounge. For guests in executive rooms and suites, and for Hilton Honors Diamond members.
- Access. A free shuttle bus runs from JR Takayama Station and takes about eight minutes.

How do we use it for groups?
- Check room numbers. While the refurbishment goes on, fewer rooms are open, so we confirm the count before we quote a larger group.
- A base for the region. From Takayama we plan day trips to Shirakawa-go and the Northern Alps.
- Time the old town. The old streets of Takayama are busiest in the middle of the day, so we walk them in the morning.
- Festival dates. Rooms fill early around the Takayama Festival in April and October, so we request them as soon as dates are fixed.
