Musée d'Orsay Masterworks in Tokyo: Group Planning

Explera DMC Japan is building group visits to "What a Wonderful World: Masterworks from the Musée d'Orsay" at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno Park. The exhibition runs from 14 November 2026 to 28 March 2027 and brings about 110 works from Paris, including Van Gogh's Starry Night Over the Rhône and Millet's The Gleaners.

The show closes the museum's 100th anniversary year. It is organised by the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum with the Musée d'Orsay and Nikkei, among others.

What will clients see at the exhibition?

  • About 110 works. Paintings, sculpture, crafts and photographs, mostly from Realism to Symbolism.
  • Headline paintings. Van Gogh's Starry Night Over the Rhône and Millet's The Gleaners, with works by Monet, Renoir and Gauguin.
  • Opening hours. 9:30 to 17:30, and to 20:00 on Fridays. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing.
  • Closed days. Mondays (with some exceptions), 24 November, 22 December to 3 January, 12 January and 23 March.

How do we plan a group visit?

  • Pick quiet times. Large Musée d'Orsay shows in Tokyo draw long queues, so we aim for weekday mornings or Friday evenings.
  • Tickets in advance. We buy tickets ahead of the date and check the museum's rules for groups before we confirm.
  • Plan the day around Ueno. The museum is inside Ueno Park, close to the Tokyo National Museum and the National Museum of Western Art, so one art day can cover two museums.
  • Allow enough time. We plan about two hours inside, plus time for the shop and a coffee.
