MoN Takanawa: Tokyo's New Museum of Narratives for Groups

Explera DMC Japan is adding MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives to Tokyo programmes for groups. The museum opened on 28 March 2026 in Takanawa Gateway City, the new district around Takanawa Gateway Station. It mixes exhibitions, live performance and Japanese culture, and it changes its theme twice a year.

MoN Takanawa is run by the East Japan Railway Foundation for Cultural Innovation. Kengo Kuma & Associates designed the exterior. The name plays on the Japanese words for "gate" and "question".

What is inside MoN Takanawa?

Exhibition space. About 1,500 square metres for large exhibitions that change with each season's theme.
A theatre. A full-stage theatre with LED screens, used for performances.
A tatami hall. A large room laid with 100 tatami mats for Japanese culture programmes.
Rooftop and food. Rooftop spaces, a café, a restaurant and a shop.
