Nohga Hotel Shinjuku Gyoen: 72 Garden-View Rooms in 2027

Explera DMC Japan is watching Nohga Hotel Shinjuku Gyoen for small Tokyo groups in summer 2027. Nomura Real Estate Hotels says the hotel opens on 15 July 2027 with 72 rooms, every one with a balcony facing Shinjuku Gyoen, and it began taking reservations on its own website on 15 October 2026.

That last detail is the reason this is worth a note now. When a hotel opens its calendar a full nine months out, the early dates go to whoever asks first, and a 72-room hotel does not have many rooms to spare for a group.

What will Nohga Hotel Shinjuku Gyoen offer?

• 72 rooms across nine types, all at least 30 square metres, in a 14-storey building.
• A balcony on every room, facing the garden. That is the whole pitch, and it is a strong one: few Tokyo hotels look straight onto one of the city's great green spaces.
• Two suites on the top floor, which suit a VIP or a group leader.
• A bakery and a café-bar lounge on the ground floor, and a restaurant on the second floor, so a group can eat breakfast and a casual dinner in-house.
• A two-minute walk from Shinjuku-gyoemmae Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, which gets clients to Ginza and Tokyo Station without a change.

Who is it right for?

This is a lifestyle hotel, not a convention hotel. We would put it forward for incentive winners, small private groups, design-minded FIT clients and a group leader who wants to stay a short walk from the main hotel. We would not try to fit a 40-person coach group into it on one night; the room count will not take that comfortably, and there is no ballroom.

The other point we make to agents is the season. Shinjuku Gyoen is at its most famous in cherry blossom time, but this hotel opens in mid-July, so its first months are high summer and autumn colour. That is a good story for an autumn programme in 2027 and a better one for spring 2028, when those balconies look over the blossom.

How do we plan around a mid-2027 opening?

• Ask early, hold late. We make the request now for groups that will travel after the opening, and we keep a fallback hotel in Shinjuku until the opening date holds.
• Split the group if it is large. A bigger group can sleep in a Shinjuku hotel with more rooms and use Nohga for the leader, the VIPs or a welcome drink.
• Build the garden into the day. The garden is the reason to stay, so we plan an early walk there before it fills with visitors.
